Things to Do in Collin County

Things to do in the Cities of Collin County:

Collin County Adventure Camp

Collin County Adventure Camp serves communities in North Texas and beyond with outdoor education, summer camp, conferences and retreats, and special events.

Established in 2006, Collin County Adventure Camp is located near Anna, TX and serves the surrounding communities with outdoor education programs, conferences and retreats, and summer day camp.

The Collin County Adventure Camp provides a place for Collin County’s next generation to maintain a rapidly diminishing tie to nature that past generations have enjoyed.

The idea of a camp was placed on a referendum in which the residents of Collin County approved $26 million in bond funds to support the construction of the facility. Soon thereafter, a camp advisory board was formed. Collin County also entered into a partnership with the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas to manage the camp.

From 2002 until 2006, this combined group of dedicated individuals worked with contractors and consultants to create the facility. The Collin County Adventure Camp is an example of Collin County’s commitment to children. Here, they learn the value of open space and education.

CCAC offers a variety of fun and exciting activities that appeal to campers and guests of all ages. With the exception of the pool, all program areas are available year round. Since opening in 2006, CCAC has continued to grow and expand, most recently with the addition of the twin zip lines. Camp activities include:

  • twin zip lines
  • 5 miles of walking trails
  • 3 lakes with fishing piers and canoeing
  • party pool with water slide, mushroom fountains, and water cannons (open Memorial Day through Labor Day)
  • 35-foot climbing wall
  • low ropes course with 10 elements
  • archery and BB gun ranges
  • sports fields

Family Camp – Activities include boating, hiking, arts and crafts, target sports, fishing, the climbing wall, and much more! Family camps start on Friday with check-in at 5:00 PM and a campfire led by camp staff. The weekend concludes with breakfast on Sunday.

Summer Camp – In a world where children spend more and more time inside playing video games or texting their friends, it is becoming increasingly more important for them to have opportunities to step outside of that world and into a new adventure that is completely wireless. We understand this need for kids to unplug and spend time outside! When they do, they find themselves investing in each other, learning new skills, and creating memories that last a lifetime.

Outdoor Education – CCAC’s Outdoor Education Program exists to extend the classroom experience into the outdoors. It’s overall purpose is to nurture youth development, energize healthy living, and inspire social responsibility by maximizing the resources of the natural world.
