Things To Do In Farmersville, TX

Farmersville TX is known as the “Onion Capital of the North Texas” since 1930. The settlement ships over 1,000 carloads of onions as well as some small production such as cotton, cattle and maize crops.

The community was named by William Pickney Chapman and John Hendrex.  In 1855 people from neighboring communities started relocating in the settlement, in the same year Collin County’s earliest physician Dr. H. M. Markham is said to have relocated and started practicing here.

Some of the well known people from Farmersville are Herb Ellis a jazz guitarist, Loren Murchison an Olympic gold medalist and Audie Murphy, United States’ most decorated combat soldier of World War II.

The history itself is one of the main reasons you should visit Farmersville TX, but it doesn’t end with that since this town has a lot more to offer.
