Parker, TX was incorporated as a City on March 22, 1969. Since then it was rapidly developing. Although development was side to side, the City has retained its beauty and county atmosphere.
Parker’s history started 150 years ago, back then the area was covered with prairie grass, it was so thick and so high that first settlers took two years straight to burn and prepare the land for farming. The City was named after William C. Parker son of John C. Parker, one of the first known settlers.

Parkerfest Car Show
Do you own a classic car dated 1990 or earlier? If so, then wear your best costume that matches the era of your car and join Parkerfest Car Show. The festival happens annually in the month of October.
The festival offers lots of activities for all ages like Costume Contest for Adults and Children, Pumpkin Carving Contest, Cupcake Walk, Lawn Games for All Ages, Pony Rides, Dog Costume Contest and Llama Walks. The annual City gathering also includes music, exhibits, vendor booths and lots of food.

Parks, Recreation and Historical Landmarks
The City of Parker is rich with must-see historical landmarks, from the internationally famous Southfork Ranch, ShangriLlama, and other tourist spots. So make sure to bring your cameras along when you visit these unforgettable sites located in an unforgettable historical county.
One of the busiest places in town, the mansion in Southfork ranch was built in 1970 by Joe Duncan. The ranch was stunning! It has a white beautiful mansion, pool, barns and magnificent surroundings, no wonder it quickly became a tourist mecca.
The ranch first appeared in television in the year 1978 through the series “Dallas” by Lorimar Productions. Some of the movies that feature Southfork Ranch are J.R. Returns (1996), War of Ewings (1998), The Return to Southfork (2004) and again, the new Dallas Series (2012). In the year 1993, the ranch was also featured in the Little Texas music video “God Blessed Texas.”
Currently, the ranch is now an event and conference center, owned by the Forever Resorts. ShangriLlama was first established in California. The owner Mama Llama and her family adopted their first Llama seven years ago and often take them for a walk. During one of the walks a news reporter’s camera man spotted them and featured the family with the Llama on TV, then, the history of ShangriLlama started.
Mama Llama and her family fell in love with Texas and dreamed of buying a ranch together with their Llamas. Fortunately, in the year 2015 their dream came true and now they offer Llama walks at local parks and Llama lesson at their ranch.
